Down With Da Vinci Code !

Special alert to all Christians that may happen to see this!
On the 19th of this month, the new Da Vinci Code movie starring Tom Hanks, Ian McKellen, and directed by Ron Howard will appear in theaters. All across the country, Christian leaders are urging people of faith to not only boycott the movie, but stay away from any theater playing the movie for the duration of its run. Perhaps if enough people, we can send a message to Hollywood by hitting them where it hurts--the wallet! Don't use your money to support a direct attack on our faith!

The Trinity

While exploring the internet, I have come across a lot of confusion, expecially among teenagers, concerning the Trinity. People often consider the person of Jesus, God the Son, and God the Father two separate people. I have heard terms such as "God of the Old Testament" and "God of the New Testament," as though they were two separate beings. But this is not what the Bible teaches.

No one can completely understand the full nature of God, but we do know a few things. Basically, Christains worship one God who manifests Himself in three different ways or "persons."

Each of these three persons have co-existed for eternity. God the Son was not created when Jesus was born. The Gospel of John sheds light on the work of Christ before His brief stay on earth. He identifies Jesus ( The Word) as the manifestation through which God made all that was created: John 1:3 “Through [The Word]all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.”

The Holy Spirit is the person through which God communes directly to the heart of Christains. Without the Holy Spirit working in human souls to bring conviction of sin, understanding of the Gospel, and responsiveness to the Word, no one would ever be saved, and there would be no Christian church or faith. Jesus is the Living Word, but without the Holy Spirit bringing people to the Word, His message is lost. Humans, because of their sin nature, do not naturally come to Christ on their own initiative. Is it the work of the Holy Spirit within them.

Each of these persons is not a “part” of God; God the Son, God the Father, and the Holy Spirit are each themselves completely God, just in different form. This has been my understanding of the Trinity doctrine.
